Laurence Vulliamy

Laurence VulliamyA Reydon resident, has worked in broadcasting for over 30 years. His interests include archaeology (C4’s Time Team), Religion, and Current Affairs. For over 20 years Laurence led a team at ITN responsible for the live coverage of significant, national and worldwide events, such as The Funeral of the Princess of Wales (1997) for which the team was awarded a BAFTA. Other broadcasts included The Queen’s Golden Jubilee and The Queen Mother’s Funeral (2002) and the 2011 Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Currently Laurence works as a consultant to an association of Foreign Broadcasters based in The UK. Laurence’s family first came to Southwold in 1912, and he is passionate about the history and future viability of the town and surrounding area. Laurence is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts and until recently was a Director/Trustee of The Southwold Sailors’ Reading Room, a unique institution first established over 150 years ago to look after the welfare of local long-shore fishermen.
