Gail has been a resident of Southwold since 1986. She qualified as a Further Education lecturer/teacher, and in Ludlow, Shropshire, Gail helped initiate a new full-time Business Studies course, offering wider opportunities for students to continue in education up to the age of 18. In 1980 Gail moved to East Anglia to teach Economics at Wymondham College, the largest state boarding school in Europe, remaining there until 2013. When the College was threatened with closure in 1984, Gail was part of the team that fought successfully to save it. She progressed to Head of Sixth Form and acted as a Governor for 4 years. In addition to teaching A-level Economics and Sociology, her work involved 24/7 responsibility for 150+ 16-18 co-ed boarders, and considerable administration, teamwork and positive public relations to ensure the smooth running and growth of a Sixth Form of over 300 students.
